Dr. Alex Kroeger joined Texas State University the fall 2019 semester as an assistant professor. He received his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Nebraska in 2017, with a specialization in Comparative Politics. Prior to joining the faculty at Texas State, Dr. Kroeger spent two years as a Lecturer at the University of California, Merced. Dr. Kroeger’s research focuses on the causes and consequences of political instability in authoritarian regimes, with a regional focus on Africa. His research has appeared in the British Journal of Political Science, Comparative Political Studies, the Journal of Peace Research, the European Journal of Political Economy, and Democratization. His teaching interests include African politics, authoritarian regimes, democratization, and quantitative methods.
