Hardware

The Liberal Arts Computer Lab features state-of-the-art computers, printers and scanners.  This lab is committed to providing students with up to date equipment to help prepare them for challenging careers once they leave this university.  This is possible through generous grants provided by the Academic Computing Committee, as well as substantial funding by the Departments of Political Science, History, Geography, Sociology and Anthropology.

Software

The Liberal Arts Computer Lab is equiped with Microsoft Office 2007, which includes Word, Excel, Power Point, Access and Publisher.  This lab also offers students Prodoc and SPSS.  In addition, the lab has internet access.

Students wishing to use Prodoc should see the lab attendant on duty for a log-in id.

Things to Know

Students are asked to present a photo id and state their major to the lab attendant when they enter the lab.  Lab use is tracked by semester so that the lab coordinator may provide usage information to departments who fund the lab as well as to the Academic Computing Committee.  Students may print up to 20 pages per day and are asked to refrain from eating, drinking, disruptive conversation and cell phone use while in the lab.

Should students or faculty need more information, they should contact the lab coordinator, Jenni Small, at js93@txstate.edu or 512-245-3185.

A Special Note to Legal Studies Graduate Students

Graduate students who are enrolled in Legal Studies classes are eligible to check out a laptop computer for use in the lab.  This computer houses specialized software and legal forms and may be obtained from the lab attendant on duty.  A work station has been set aside to accomodate students using this laptop.  Unfortunately, they may not remove it from the lab.
