Thank you for your interest in our department. We are proud to offer our students one of the most broad and comprehensive educational experiences of any political science department in the nation. Our department is composed of faculty members with expertise in Political Theory and Methodology, American Government, Comparative Government, International Relations and International Law, Public and Private Law, and Public Administration. We offer an undergraduate degree in Political Science (B.A. Political Science) and an undergraduate degree in Public Administration (BPA). In addition, we offer 3 graduate degrees including the M.A. in Political Science, the M.A. in Legal Studies, and the Master of Public Administration (MPA). We are the academic home for about 700 undergraduate majors and minors and 300 graduate students.
As you navigate the website to explore the curricular options available to our students, we hope you will also learn about the exciting extra-curricular activities that are sponsored by our department and are available to the campus community and community-at-large through the “Discourse in Democracy” event series. During this academic year, this event series is providing panel discussions, politics in film events, debates, and hallway dialogue opportunities - all of which explore timely issues relating to public policy, politics and democracy. Please watch our "Meet the Professors" streaming video that contains a conversation about the development of water policy in Texas, view the "Hallway Discourse Board" streaming video to see student comments on political issues, and read an article about the five awards our students received at the Model Organization of American States student competition this year.
